The individuals who live within the borders of America

The government establishes new
ideas to deal with other nations but one of the biggest issues that the United
States has been facing for a while now is universal health care.  Health care has always played a major role in
the lives of American citizens as it can help or destroy the chances of living
life to its full potential. The United States does not provide funded health
care to all of the individuals who live within the borders of America due to
the fact that the cost of universal health care is uncertain. The government
would not be able to know exactly how much money would be spent for universal
health care as it depends on who needs to seek health care and who does not.
The issue with the foreign policy is that the United States government has a
better health program for those who live outside of the United States than
those who live in it. The core issue that is being raised is if the United
States government can create new ideas, regarding health care, to help other
nations then why is the government unable to help their own with health care? It
is clear that the promotion of universal health care is not as known as it
should be. Similar to other things such as getting an education or the freedom
we have, health care should be deemed as a right not a granted immunity only
available to the middle and upper class of the general population.

            The
history of universal health care is staggered. There has been attempts to
improve the universal health care system but it has failed more times than it
has succeeded. While Ronald Reagan was in office, 1981-1989, he placed numerous
laws to help the funds on health care as well as taking away money from
hospitals and doctor offices. George H.W. Bush, 1989-1993, decreased federal
health care costs in hopes to reduce embezzlement and corruption towards health
care programs. Barrack Obama, 2009-2017, created an Affordable Healthcare Act called
Obamacare to help individuals who do not have access to health care. This did
raise taxes but helped more individuals secure health care. This health care
act did not only affect the insurance companies but it changed the outlook
Americans had on health care itself.

In terms of health
care, each year it is decreasing as the government thinks it would cost too
much money to have, due to the fact that they would have to raise taxes. When
thinking about the United States health care compared to other nations, it is
important to look at what morals we have as citizens because being able to deny
individuals health care just to save a few hundred dollars says a lot. It is
also important to acknowledge what kind of environment we live in and what kind
of community we want to live in. Making health care available for all United
States citizens would cost a good amount of money but in the end, everyone
would be healthier and be able to do more things. By having more people
healthy, this would create an opportunity for individuals to work and spend
their own money instead of having to constantly rely on the government’s money.
Universal health care does depend on the government and the foreign policies
but more on the values each American has accepted and honored.

            Universal
health care causes a constant altercation with the government in reason that
they think it will cost too much money. People who have health care are being
charged too much and those who are without it pay too much money for one visit.
The condition of the American citizens is declining due to the fact that the
access to health care is not there. The scholarly article, Is Universal Health Coverage the Practice Expression of the Right to
Health Care, compares “the right to health care with universal health
coverage” (Ooms, Latif, Waris, Brolan, Hammonds, Friedman, Mulumba, and Forman
2014). The article states, “The level of health care they may expect is
conditioned by the relative wealth of the countries they live in, but the
health care that is made available to some inhabitants must be made available
to all inhabitants, and they must be included in the decision-making processes
that establish the standards” (Ooms, Latif, Waris, Brolan, Hammonds, Friedman,
Mulumba, and Forman 2014). The majority of individuals who have access to
health care live in an elaborate town, where as those who do not lack the
access to health care. The United States health program helps all different
types of communities outside of its borders but cannot seem to help their own.

            What
is needed for universal health care can be done but the government fails to
complete the steps to make it all happen. The article also mentions, “Furthermore,
there is a minimum threshold, for which the international community – or states
and other in a position to assist – must indeed provide assistance” (Ooms,
Latif, Waris, Brolan, Hammonds, Friedman, Mulumba, and Forman 2014). With that
being said, in order to get universal health care the government and citizens
need to advocate it. If assistance is the only thing lacking then other nations
can provide strategies or assistance in taking the steps that are needed. We
are able to help other nations with the United States health program so in
return they can provide us with what we need. The article also states, “This is
particularly relevant for people living in low and lower middle-income
countries, where governments may be unable to fulfil their minimum core
obligations without international assistance” (Ooms, Latif, Waris, Brolan,
Hammonds, Friedman, Mulumba, and Forman 2014). The United States government is
able to aid other nations with health care but fail to realize what is happening
to their own health care.

There are countless ways to advertise
universal health care. Those who work in the medical field advocate health care
by communicating information to their surroundings, influence what is best for
each patient, and solve what is needed. Advocating universal health care is
just as important as taking the steps to establish it. Educating individuals on
what health care is, the benefits, and how to help will allow the general
population to take part in promoting a good cause. There are organizations such
as the American Medical Student Association, Families USA, and We Can Do
Better. These organizations promote health education, universal health care,
and let as many people as possible know about the things that are taking place
within the health care system. Solving the issues with universal health care
will eliminate all conflicts that have occurred in the government.

            Universal
health care would be able to save so many lives and encourage Americans to
become healthier. It is time for the citizens of the United States to start
thinking of health the same way they think about other things such as eating
and drinking, transportation, or education. Without health care or being
classified as healthy, none of that will matter. The United States health
program helps all different types of communities outside of its borders but cannot
seem to help their own.  The condition of
the American citizens is declining due to the fact that the access to health
care is not there. Similar to other things such as getting an education or the
freedom we have, health care should be deemed as a right not a granted immunity
only available to the middle and upper class of the general population.
